Morning Growers Market
I got to Joondalup around 10AM, finding out the hard way that there was an event happening today when I got detoured to park in the Lakeside Joondalup Car Park. So I wandered over to find out what the event was, but instead I found a growers market at Central Park here and the event was not starting until 2PM, I thought I would have a browse around Joondalup and the shopping scene.
Since I was there, my first stop was the growers market which was changed by the time I came back at 2PM, but it was filled with local people selling fruit and veg, a band and lots of local families buying. I stayed to listen to the band for a while, but not wanting to carry around food, I left and wandered over to a shopping centre.
Lakeside Joondalup
This place is huge. Around 300 specialty stores, with larger stores such as Myer, Big W, Target and K-Mart, as well as a Coles, Woolworths and Aldi under the same eco-centre, as well as many places to eat, drink and even movies, so it seems whether you're into fashion, technology, eating or just chilling, there is something to do here everyday. But since I had 3 hours to kill, I thought I would chill and get a bite to eat and watch a movie! Now don't judge me, I watched Captain Marvel, but i'll not spoil the Mar-Vel'ous movie for you, but I will say that the cinema was clean, tidy and spacious. If it wasn't such a good movie, I could have easily dosed off in those chairs!

After a hard afternoon of chilling, I stopped off at Grill'd and had a Simon Says burger. A delicious mouthwatering burger made with chicken, avocado, bacon and salad with some relish and mayonnaise. Again, place was neat and service was great, although if I was bringing the family, it was quite small (not that my family are huge!). It was nearly 2PM and I wanted to get going. Only, Lakeside is quite large, and I wasn't sure which way I was supposed to go to get out of here, thankfully there are digital maps around to find your way around.
Exploring the Galaxy at Joondalup Festival
I eventually made it out of the centre and found my way back to the activity. Although it started at 2PM, there was very little people around at the beginning. I walked from the Earth to the Moon in record time (see the video below).
I spent time watching the first act in the Nebula area; Morgan James, modern Vaudeville, who was quite entertaining juggling blades and spinning plates at the end doing a lap of the field. It was then onto the circoPitanga which was what felt like clowns and acrobatics, it was at this point I moved on, expecting to come back in the evening for more entertainment (but things never go the way you think!).
The Earth and Moon at different ends of the park allowed me the fun of walking the distance, but both were made by Luke Jerram; this artwork was made to scale of 1:1,800,000, giving us the chance to see the earth from different angles. Likewise, the moon 1:500,000 scale, it was replicated from imagery from NASA. In the evening, both globes are lit providing a stunning backdrop to the entertainment around.
Similarly, the spaceman also is lit in the evening, providing a blue hue and points to the stars above. With entertainment starting on the weekends at 2PM and going on until 11PM, it's a good place to come and chill and watch some entertaining people perform.
Sorrento Quay Boardwalk
It was time to head back home, it was either get street food from the Festival or sit down and eat with style. I headed out to the Sorrento Quay boardwalk and to Dome. With views like this, what's not to like about sitting down and having a view of the harbour. I've had a great 4 day trips around the City of Joondalup, but it's now at an end. My feet thank me, as I don't think i've walked so much in a long time, as there was so much to see and do in such a short time.
